What is AFL Masters Footy?

At the South Coast Sharks, we dive into the game of AFL Masters Australian Football (AFLM), a version of Aussie Rules designed specifically for players 35 and over. AFLM, formerly known as Superules, gives seasoned footy lovers a chance to keep circling the field in a safe, supportive, and family-friendly environment.

AFLM was established in 1980, now governed by AFLM and its nine State Associations. With over 119 teams playing across Australia, AFLM lets us continue chasing footies in a game modified to reduce injury risks, all while staying connected to the game we all love.

At the Sharks, we pride ourselves on our welcoming, family-first atmosphere. Whether you’re new to the pack or a veteran gummy, we’re here to make sure you enjoy the game and the social connections that come with it.

While you’ll need some level of fitness to swim with the Sharks, but we keep training flexible—usually just once a week, so it won’t take a big bite out of your time. Games are usually scheduled from April to September, and occur about once every 3-4 weeks with game days normally on a Sunday.

AFL Masters is about fun, fitness, and community, and we’re all about enjoying the game at a pace that suits everyone!
