As we move into 2025, the South Coast Sharks are gearing up for an exciting season with some key leadership changes. Our inaugural president and coach from 2024, Dave O’Brien and Luke Vassallo, have decided to step down from their official roles due to work and family commitments.

We wouldn’t be where we are today without the vision, dedication, and hard work that Dave and Luke have provided. Their leadership was instrumental in establishing the Sharks, and we extend our deepest gratitude for everything they’ve done. Thankfully, they’re not going anywhere—both Dave and Luke will continue playing and supporting the team in 2025. We look forward to seeing them back in the Sharks jumper this season! 🦈

Introducing Our New Coaching Team

With change comes opportunity, and we’re thrilled to introduce our new coaching duo for 2025:

Darren ‘Podge’ Morrish and Dale Allen

• Darren ‘Podge’ Morrish: A familiar face to many, Podge was our fearless captain last season and has now stepped up to lead the team as coach.

• Dale Allen: Known as the patriarch of the AMC (Over 35s social footy & basketball program), Dale played a key role in officiating our first intra-club practice match last year and has been a passionate supporter of the Sharks.

With the goal of fielding both an Over 35s and Over 45s team in 2025, we couldn’t ask for a better pair to guide us. Their focus will be on the AFL Masters mantra of “Footy for Fun,” ensuring that every player—whether new to the game or a seasoned veteran—can enjoy the sport in a supportive and social environment.

A huge thank you to Nick Abbott and Des Callahan for their work behind the scenes in appointing our new coaches. Their vision and commitment have been invaluable in shaping the future of the Sharks.

2025 Season Kickoff: Training & Season Launch
